"Initially, it was plain curiosity. But now, it is the overall good feeling and relaxation with no pain, the day after, that I most enjoy. Also, I get to meet new friends with positive attitudes and who share my interest in keeping healthy and well."

"The most surprising benefit I've experienced from Tai Chi is smoother body movement for ordinary activities. At one instance, I was getting on a jeepney and suddenly my knees moved in a circular manner when I turned around. I also became more aware and in touch of my body. I also become more sensitive to my body. I can feel onset of an infection or minor ailment before it actually shows symptoms As long as I do Taichi regularly, I know I can maintain better body movement and achieve a higher sensitivity of the body."

"I used to stumble a lot and both my ankles had been sprained because this imbalance. Since then, being tripped is always a threat. Through my regular Tai Chi, I gained better balance and I readily regain my composure without hurting myself when i stumble or trip. My migraine attack and the level of pain are also gradually reduced. Tai Chi helped me manage the stress that my job brings and consequently cause to ease my temper. I tried other means of exertion but I found them strenuous. Tai Chi is best for me physically, mentally and spiritually."

"Tai Chi groups are plenty around in Manila but for me, although Peace Blossom is a bit far from Malate, I make it a point to go there as much as possible because I find the group to be very much accommodating and friendly. It also has different levels of people in it, so the beginners would learn from the best and more experienced Tai-chi teachers. Besides Tai Chi, they also make it a point to practice simple Qigong in the beginning, the prerequisite for a good Tai Chi session."

"I like to think of taichi as a moving meditation. It refreshes me, relaxes my mind and inspires me. When you do taichi, you are dancing, praying, creating poetry, exercising, communing with the Universe. It allows you to be like air, or like water, or like everything and yet nothing at all. Taichi gives you freedom, at the same time allows you to go inside yourself to search for and realize your deepest truths. Then again, taichi could just be something you do every Sunday morning, as some form of light exercise."

"I had a knee injury before and went into rehabilitation for a month. A fitness instructor friend told me I wouldn't be able to go back to my martial arts practice. But then I discovered taichi and was able to go back to jeetkundo. I also used to have a tumor in my lung, but it completely disappeared without medication. With taichi, I don't get stressed at work, I don't get sick, and after practicing taichi for a year, I discovered my capability to do magic tricks, which was a childhood dream. All the things that I thought I couldn't do have now come out because of taichi."

"Taichi is movement meditation and it helps strengthen my mind and my concentration. I also check my blood pressure and blood sugar all the time, and I have the blood pressure of a teenage boy! I try to do taichi every day, and I actually came to the Philippines to learn more of it."

"I used to get tired easily. But since taichi is a breathing exercise, my lungs got stronger. My mind is calmer now, but before I was always nervous and I often get palpitations. Now I'm more relaxed. And my legs are now stronger, too."

"Taichi relieved the pains in my body. It develops my inner strength and corrected abnormalities in my heartbeat. I do meditation with it and I noticed that after doing only two meditation sessions, my chest pains completely disappeared. I also don't feel nervous anymore. And I used to have a lump on my knee, but now it's gone. Those are the reasons why I continue practicing taichi. When you breathe properly in taichi, you become like a magnet and you absorb everything around you. You'd feel like your body is thicker and your hands are like on fire, but not hot, just sheer energy."

"I was sick for the longest time. Before taichi, I've been to Manila Doctors and going to a place called Intercare to get ultrasound and treatment using electricity to soften my muscles. Doctors said I had fibromyalgia and chronic myofacial pain disorder. My muscles stiffened up. I've had this for about 10 years but starting about two years ago, the pain got so bad. I was in therapy and painkillers. Then I got into Chinese medicine and taichi, which helped to slowly get me off the painkillers. Taichi really helps me a lot. I learned to sit right, and breathe right. With taichi, your muscles will move a lot and now I only get the good kind of pain. Meaning, it only hurts because I know I haven't moved my muscles for years! And I sweat a lot, too, which is a good thing as well."

"Tai Chi helped me cultivate balance, tranquility, discipline, patience, strength, control, and wisdom. I find that Tai Chi made it possible for me to be equanimous amidst life's adversities. I have become healthier, happier and whole. For me, Tai Chi liberates the mind, body and spirit."

I trained under Master Li Jun Feng for a year in 1997, then I came back just last year, mainly for health reasons. Tai Chi helps me manage stress, there's less pressure at work now and it's easier to deal with family concerns. It certainly helps me with my asthma, lets me center or focus more easily, and balances the heat and cold in my body.

I tried taichi during my college days and I decided to do it again just last year because this is the only exercise that I really enjoy. I am generally healthy and I try to do taichi as regularly as possible to maintain my health. As a person, I am not really stressed, I have no worries because I think my attitude keeps me youthful. But Tai Chi helps me achieve good memory--maybe because it's a challenge for me to remember all the forms! It helps me concentrate or focus better also.
